About us

Local, owner-operated, and genuinely dependable

Too many island homeowners have been let down by pool crews that don't show up, cut corners, or vanish when the salt air finally kills the pump. We started Longboat Key Pool Service to be the opposite of that - a service you can actually count on, run by the person who shows up at your pool.

We look after residential pools across the Sarasota barrier islands - waterfront and luxury homes on Longboat Key, Lido Key, Bird Key, St. Armands, Siesta Key, and Anna Maria Island, along with the bayfront and canal-front neighborhoods of Sarasota. A lot of the owners we work for are seasonal, or simply busy, and they all want the same thing: a pristine pool they never have to manage. That is the job, and we take it seriously. It means showing up on the same day every week, keeping the water genuinely balanced rather than just clear on the surface, and watching the equipment closely enough to catch the small problems while they are still small. You can read about everything we do on our services page.

Longboat Key Pool Service started for a simple reason: too many island homeowners had been let down by pool crews that skimmed and ran, missed weeks without a word, or vanished the moment the salt air finally killed a pump. On a barrier island, that is not a minor annoyance. A pool left unattended for a couple of warm weeks can turn from clear to green astonishingly fast, and a seasonal owner flying back from up north deserves better than a green surprise and a scramble to find someone reliable.

So we built the opposite of that. We are owner-operated on purpose, which means the person who quotes your pool is the person who actually services it and stands behind the work. Nothing gets lost in a call center, nobody rotates through your gate every other week, and the standard on your pool is the standard we would want at our own home. When you call, you reach someone who already knows your equipment, your gate code, and the quirks of your particular pool.

White-glove is a word people throw around, but on these islands it has a real meaning. It means the salt system gets its cell cleaned before it fails, not after. It means the tile line stays ahead of the scale that our hard coastal water leaves behind. It means the filter actually gets checked, the baskets actually get emptied, and the chemistry is right for a Florida pool in July as much as in January. It means we close the gate behind us and tell you the truth when something needs repair, instead of selling you what you do not need.

A weekly visit is more thorough than most people realize, and that thoroughness is the whole product. We skim the surface and empty the baskets, brush the walls and steps where scale and algae like to start, vacuum as needed, and check the filter and the pump. Then we test the water and balance it properly - chlorine or salt - so it is genuinely swim-ready rather than just clear at a glance. On a saltwater pool we watch the chlorinator and clean the cell on schedule. And because we are at your pool every week, we notice the things that matter early: a pump beginning to whine, a heater short-cycling, a small leak pulling your level down faster than evaporation ever could. Caught early, those are minor, planned repairs instead of hot-afternoon emergencies.

Much of what we do is quiet caretaking while owners are away. Snowbird and seasonal homeowners hand us the pool for months at a stretch, and we keep it balanced and watched the entire time, prep it ahead of a storm, handle any cleanup after one, and send word if anything needs a decision. You come home to water that is ready, not a project. That continuity is only possible because we are local: our routes stay tight and close across Longboat Key, Lido, Bird Key, St. Armands, and Siesta Key, so we are rarely far when you need us.

We are licensed and insured, and we live and work on these islands every day. That local footing is the whole point. When a storm rolls through or a heater quits in the heat of summer, you want the crew that already knows your pool and can actually get to it, not a number that routes to another county. That is what dependable pool care is supposed to feel like, and it is the only kind we are interested in providing.

What we stand for

Three promises we don't break

We show up

Same day, every week. The entire value of a pool service is that you stop thinking about your pool, and that only works if we are genuinely reliable. If we ever cannot make your usual day - a rare thing - a real person tells you why and exactly when we will be there instead. There are no silent no-shows and no weeks that quietly slip by, because reliability is not a feature of the service; on a barrier island, it is the whole service.

We do it right

We do not skim and run. Balanced water, clean baskets, a filter that is actually checked, brushed walls and steps, and equipment that is watched for early trouble - the work done to the standard we would want at our own home, not the fastest version of it. Cutting corners on a coastal pool does not save you money; it just moves the cost to next month, when the neglected salt cell fails or the chemistry has drifted far enough to cloud the water. We would rather do it right the first time.

We treat your pool like our own

That means catching the failing salt cell before it strands you, closing the gate behind us, and telling you the truth when something needs repair instead of selling you what you do not need. It means treating your home the way we would want ours treated when we are a thousand miles away and trusting someone with the keys. Your trust is the whole business, and on islands this small, a reputation for straight dealing is the only marketing that actually matters.

We live here too

An island crew, not an out-of-town outfit

We are licensed and insured, and we work these islands every day. That matters more than it sounds. A coastal pool has quirks an inland service never learns: salt air that corrodes pumps and chlorinators years early, hard water that scales the tile line and the salt cell, screen-enclosed lanai pools that trap their own kind of debris, and the seasonal rhythm of owners who leave for months and come back expecting perfect water. Knowing those patterns is the difference between a pool that is quietly maintained and one that lurches from one avoidable problem to the next. We have seen how each of these plays out on Longboat Key, Lido, Bird Key, St. Armands, and Siesta Key, and we plan the work around them instead of being surprised by them.

We know saltwater systems inside out, we know what a Florida pool needs in July versus January, and we know what a barrier-island pool goes through in hurricane season - because we are here for all of it, every year. When a storm rolls through or your heater quits, you want the crew that already knows your pool and can actually get to it, not a number that routes to another county and calls you back next week. Being local is not a marketing line for us; it is how we are able to be reliable in the first place. Our routes stay close and tight across the islands, so a quick fix or an urgent check is rarely more than a short drive away, and we already have the history on your equipment when something needs attention.
